Thousand Words: Day Seven

The shopping experience of your life

You have never shopped until you have shopped in China.

It seems like every major city in China has one of these.  It's a mega-massive, monster market made up of thousands (not exaggerating) of tiny little, independent shops and vendors.  They vary greatly from place to place but generally incorporate several humongous buildings broken up into a confusing catacomb like maze of hallways and never ending stuff.  What kind of stuff?  Name it.  Seriously, name it.  It's there.  Except electronics (see day three for that).

Here's the catch . . . if you're looking for high end, high quality you might try a different spot (also available in China).  If you're looking for authentic name brand (key word "authentic") keep moving.  If you're concerned about a warrantee, well, that's just kind of funny.  However, if you want a Rolex for 10 bucks this is your place and if you need the papers that say it's authentic, they've copied those too.  Galvin Klein shirts, Armoni suits, Abibas tennis shoes, they've got it all and it's a virtual playground for people who like to bargain.  No kidding, for the shopping experience of a lifetime come visit.  You won't be disappointed (in the experience).

Otherwise known as the most popular NBA team in China.
Thank you Yao Ming.

Pearls?
This guy quoted me 50 kuai (about $7) for one of these necklaces.  When I asked if
they were real he assured me that they were and pulled out a pair of
scissors to scrape off a flake of one of the pearls.  I think he'd been asked
that before.
